Josien lived during the reign of steward Willem V and his wife Wilhemina of Prussia. Wilhelmina was a rich, influencial and protestant women. She wouldn't allow for her man, and herself, to be put aside and loose power. At first sight she seems the opposite of Josina, who was poor and catholic. Liesbeth imagined Josien was a joyfull, independend woman, who was also impatient and could hold a grudge. She married a man ten years her junior. Perhaps her charm combined with a less experienced husband were her ways to keep control over her own life and destiny. Perhaps she was, like Wilhelmina, the driving force behind the marriage.
